We, at So. Cal. Imports, are now importing high-quality replacement floorpan halves made out of 18 gauge steel stamped just like the originals. The stampings are crisp and solid. The old familiar floppy, tinny panels are a thing of the past here. These panels hold their shape and are a joy to install. 

The heavier metal makes for much better results when installed correctly and also makes for a more permanent repair. On the side of safety, your seat tracks will once again be attached to a stronger, more firm base. Less road noise is transmitted through these pans as well. 

Pan replacement is not a job for beginners. It entails a fair amount of cutting, trimming, fitting and welding, not to mention the use of many specialty metal working tools. Step-by-step instructions are presented in the Robert Bentley Workshop Manual for the Volkswagen 1200, 1961-1965. Since this manual’s writing, there have been advances in tools and methods for repair, but the steps and the end results remain true.
