July 11, 2009 - Charleston VW Drag Night Greeleyville, South Carolina

Come visit the low country of Charleston SC and join us for a day and night of VW drag racing and a car show. We will have a minimum of 2 classes of racing (Super Pro and Pro) with a guaranteed purse (Super Pro $500/$300 / Pro $300/$150) and free t-shirts for the first 30 registered racers. The car show will not be judged and there will be no fee to park your car in the show area. Camping will be allowed at the track. Time trials will begin at 2 pm with eliminations beginning at 6 pm. Midway Dragstrip will be the host track and is located 12 miles off of I-95 near Manning SC. Sunday the 12th will be the rain date at the same location. Admission is $15 and entry fee for the race will be $25 Super Pro and $20 Pro. This event will also feature a 4.70 race so there will be lots of action on the track. The CVA’s 5th Annual New England Volks-Meet, Lebanon Lions Fairgrounds, Lebanon, CT from 9am to 3pm Sunday. Trophies will be awarded by people’s choice in many different classes. Show will be open to all Volkswagens and all German cars, owners and fans. Will be held rain or shine. There will be dash plaques and goody bags to the first 200 cars and camping is available on Saturday night and we will have live bands. There will be entertainment for the kids both days. Schenley Park is the scene of our nation's only vintage race held on city streets. This 456 acre golf course and park hosts over 2,000 show cars and well over 200,000 spectators for the weekend. The PVGP races through Schenley Park are considered by many drivers to be the most challenging race course worldwide. The 2.33 mile circuit has 23 turns not to mention haybales, manhole covers, phone poles and stone walls. There are practice/warm-up sessions each morning. Qualifying races take place on Saturday with the Crown Royal Featured Races on Sunday. Both afternoons feature exciting racing as groups are separated by engine size and year of manufacture.
